12 Oct Symposium – The Health Challenges in Professional Football – October 16th, 2019
Dear Football Medical Professional,
We are delighted to invite you to attend the symposium – The Health Challenges in Professional Football – at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium from 10.30 to 16:30 on Wednesday, October 16th 2019.
The symposium will cover a range of important issues in football including concussion, mental health, cartilage deterioration and career transition. We are very pleased that doctors from The Football Association, Arsenal and Queens Park Rangers will be among the speakers at the symposium along with Marco van Basten, the former Ajax, AC Milan and Netherlands striker. Please find the programme of the symposium in the attached document or by clicking on the following link:
The symposium will also mark the launch of a Europe-wide study of the health of professional footballers by FIFPro, the global player’s union, and Amsterdam University Medical Centres. The longitudinal study will track the health of dozens of players over a 10-year period, making it the most comprehensive research of its kind undertaken in professional football. More information about the study can be found at:

Registration for the Symposium
The registration for the symposium is open until 30th of September 2019 (only a limited number of places are available). The fee for the conference is £20, which needs to be paid by bank transfer within 14 days of registration. We have applied for Continuing Professional (CPD) accreditation from the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us should you require any further information.
Yours Faithfully,
Dr Sean Carmody
Secretary, The FA Medical Society
